Radio Jingle Evaluation.

For my news jingle I would change the choice of instrumental in order to fit in better with the choice of music for the show promo and the station identity. For my show promo, I could have improved the enthusiasm in the choice of sound effects as well as my recorded voice over’s. My radio jingle was very much what I wanted it to be in that it contained in my eyes the perfect song choice, featuring Common – The People, Kid Cudi – Up, Up And Away and Common – Start The Show, in that particular order. The station identity could have been a lot more descriptive about the criteria of the radio show; it comes off somewhat bland due to having a single, repetitive instrumental in the background, giving listeners no real idea of what the station is about. Listeners would have to tune in often before they understood the genres my station featured.

The use of Nujabes – Voice of Autumn for my news jingle is a very relaxed, calming instrumental which at the time, I thought would put listeners at ease to hear the approaching news, but, has no real connection with the track list during radio play. The station as a whole could have had a lot more in common with itself in that, every sector of each broadcast could all feature similar music of each genre. I do not believe any station should feature a small minded amount of genres, but the vagueness of my stations genre could have been more focused and easier to place.

For my show promo I aimed to capture the tastes of people who appreciate inspiring artists despite the age of their work, and I mixed in fairly old work with the new up and coming genre defying artists which, I thought many listeners would appreciate. The aim of my station is to provide inspiring hip-hop which was made to tell stories and to connect with whomever is listening, not just what is on the charts. There are many people that do not appreciate something purely because of its place in the charts, but because of the story they told and where the listener was in their life when they heard it.

My news jingle could have been more descriptive on what part of the show it is, as I mentioned earlier, listeners would have to tune in often in order to figure out what the news jingle indicates. It was not made obvious, which is where I went wrong. My show promo was my best effort overall in that it contained songs which outlines what my station is about, they act as the tasters of things to come on my show, which I thought was good to have at the start of each show. My show promo could however, of contained more enthusiastic, descriptive voice over’s which tell the listener what they are listening to. The voice over’s overall were lacking in enthusiasm and details in that they were bland to hear and not entirely interesting, that is where I went wrong with the voice over’s.

Originals.

These two are the original versions of the photos below, these are before they were flipped and inverted.

The Way Pinhole Cameras Work.

Pinhole cameras work by using an object which can be opened and sealed. For example, a biscuit tin, simply remove the lid and paint the inside of the tin up to four or five coats of black, however much you feel necessary depending on the density of the surface as well as material. After the tin has been well painted, create a hole in the shape of a square or circle, or anything equilateral. Once the hole has been made, cover it with foil on the inside allowing a hole to be poked through the foil, creating a way for light to enter the tin from the outside. Once the hole is finished, enter a dark room with next to no lighting and place a thin sheet of photographic paper on the opposite side of the hold inside the tin. Once paper is placed, seal the lid firmly blocking any other way for light to enter the tin. Measure the length of the object, in this case, a tin and divide the measurement by 0.8, this will act as your F-Stop.

The F-Stop determines how long the object should be exposed to light because it measures the length of the object and how long light will take to place a clear print on the photographic paper, depending on the length of the object and the distance between the hold and the paper. The box will need less time outside because of the amount of light it will be exposed to compared to indoors, and, due to this, will need more time inside then outside. Once the box has been left still for the amount of time the F-Stop determines, re-seal the hole and take it to the dark room and remove the photographic paper and then place it in alkali for a matter of minutes, and then place it into developer fluid to bring out the faint image on the paper to a clearer, more visible state. Once done, place the paper into water for a matter of seconds to wash away excess fluid and then carefully run the paper through the drying machine. The image, depending on length of exposure, should be clear.

Pinhole Camera Evaluation.

My original pinhole camera was made from a small, rectangular cardboard box. I painted 4 coats of black on the inside of the box to avoid light reflection inside. I made 1 hole in the small square of tinfoil at the opposing end to the photographic paper. The hole allows a small beam of light to reach the photographic paper creating a faint image which is then brought to life by placing the paper in alkali for a matter of minutes and then into developer fluid to further the detail of the image. After development, the photo is then placed into water to wash away excess fluid and then placed through the dryer machine. After that, it is then all down to the exposure time spent to decide on whether the image will be clear.

Pinhole Photo 2

This image came out relatively well, in that it has a detailed view of the college atrium. It is slightly over exposed due to the amount of darkness on show. In order to achieve a better, clearer image, I need to ensure there is a shorter exposure in order to allow less light to reach the photographic paper and print a clearer image.

Pinhole Photo 1

This image was extremely over exposed to light. It is difficult to make out an image from this photo because of the over exposure. In order for this image to be clearer, there needs to be a slightly shorter exposure time to light.

Welcome.

Welcome to my blog, this will eventually contain the work I will have done throughout my Media course.
